Sid Sidebottom

MP Federal Member for Braddon

*Sid the new Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

"I feel honoured to be chosen to serve the people of Braddon and Australia in a higher capacity as Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

The role is significant in many ways for it can touch on the future of our immediate region, Tasmania and also the nation, for there are some significant challenges facing agriculture, forestry and fisheries. These include changing environmental conditions with climate change, changing market conditions, pressure from imports, pressure from interest groups of all colours and declining resource stocks.

My major portfolio responsibilities will be in the areas of forestry, dairy as well as skills and education in agriculture. I will also have other administrative duties, such as delivering legislation to the Governor General to be signed.

I will no doubt be a lot busier, but I remain committed to Braddon and will still be working very hard with my office  for my constituents on top of my new duties.

So if you have any queries, or you think I can help, please do not hesitate to contact my office."
